Domino Effect (Officer Ben Fields Fallout)
Before I speak on the viral video of Officer Ben Fields, let me say this: I'm for right, regardless of whether someone's black or white, so with that said: That girl is at fault, and let me explain why:
1. Not complying with directives. She's old enough to know that you cannot have a phone in school. That's asking for teachers or school officials to confiscate it. She should've known the teacher was going to ask her to put the phone away or it would be confiscated.
2. The teacher's job is to maintain order in her classroom, by any means necessary. This girl was being defiant, so the teacher was right in having her removed. No teacher should let some troublemaking students stop them from teaching those students who want to learn.
3. The girl was determined to go out with a bang, and did she ever. She was tensed up in her seat, and she wasn't going away peacefully, so Officer Fields did what it took to get her out, even at the risk of manhandling the girl. He really didn't body slam the girl like people think. He simply yanked her from her seat. The officer saw a defiant student that wouldn't leave when told, he could've cared less what that girl was going through. Officer Fields was there to do his job, and that's what he did, even if it wasn't to people's liking.
4. Regardless of what that girl was going through, that doesn't give her the green light to be defiant. We all go through hard times in life, but do you see anyone being defiant? No. The world will not take it easy on you just because you go through hard times.
When these police misconduct videos are posted, the entire video is NEVER shown, just the part folks want you to see; where the cops are allegedly abusing their authority. Why? Because if the entire video was posted (start to finish), I'm sure there would be no misconduct on the officers' part. Because some people have it out for the cops, some people are out to make the police look bad by any means. I'm aware that there are dirty police officers, but the vast majority are good cops.
The Fallout: People don't think about the big picture in these situations. Officer Fields gets fired, some people got their wish; ok, good. A message has been sent to school districts across America to look into getting rid of their SROs (School Resource Officers). Think about it, if Officer Fields is punished for doing his job, what makes people think the same can't happen in their city, at their school? Students will be able to show their behinds 30fold because they know they'll be able to get away with it. No SRO to come down and get them out the classroom because school officials got rid of their School Resource Officer. Remember what happened to Officer Fields, he was fired and now more public pressure is looking for him to face criminal charges. Schools don't want legal issues so I see many schools getting rid of their SROs because if a teacher calls an officer to their classroom because of a disruptive student that won't leave, and the officer does his job, the officer will get in trouble and end up losing his job because you're not "supposed to manhandle children" Never mind that that student hits a teacher & decides to take a swing at him (the officer).
Some people should not be surprised that policemen take their time, or don't come at all when they're called to black neighborhoods. Their hands are tied because the neighborhood protects Ray Ray & Pookie even though they sprayed the neighborhood with AK-47s and 10 people were killed in the process. Yet, these are the same folks that want more police in their neighborhood. Smh😒
