I was raised by old-school parents, so I believe a man should always propose to his future wife. For the most part (I know times are different), the man sought a woman to make his wife, so he's the one to propose. To be honest, if my woman proposed to me, I'd tell her to start over so I can be the one to ask for her hand in marriage. Everyone's different, but I couldn't see myself being ok with a woman proposing to me.
On the subject of child-rearing, Steve nailed it. I wouldn’t feel like I’m providing, protecting or professing if I’m at home with the kids while my woman is getting money. Even though I would be holding down the house with the child rearing and housework, I would still feel lazy.
