There's truth in this statement. Many parents want better for their child(ren), but sometimes reality dictates how parents raise their children. Look at today's climate of racial division and injustice. Most parents didn't have conversations with their child(ren) on how to conduct themselves with the police or racial injustice because racial division and injustice didn't exist to the degree it does now, but more minority parents are forced to have tough conversations about what's going on today. This is so the child(ren) will know what to do if they encounter racial injustice or the police. It's almost like parents are training their children for war because what kids have to deal with today is much different than what adults faced as children.
