Successful Ministry + Broken Home

I see this so many times in ministry where ministers have successful ministries, but their families are falling apart. Wait a minute, so you mean to tell me your ministry is blessed, but your family isn't? Doesn't make too much sense. Ministry begins at home; if preachers can't keep their families together, what makes them think their ministry will flourish? No, it doesn't work like that; check 1 Timothy 3:4-"He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him with proper respect.” 

Family Isn't Family: Carlos Black

One time for my big cuz Carlos Black for this stat:

Looking at the state of today's family, family just isn't what it used to be. Every weekend, families from both sides would get together and fellowship in the countryside; have a cookout, etc. It didn't have to be family reunion time, just family getting together for good times. Now, it seems like the only time family comes together is for funerals. Going further: Technology, beef & favoritism seem to be why families aren't as close as they used to be. There should be no excuse on the technology front for families not keeping in touch because with FaceTime video chat, social media, etc., it should be easier for families to keep in touch. Then you have families who block each other online over perceived slights, favoritism-certain family members who pick and choose who they're close to, and let's not forget beef: Families who are enemies over something that went down years ago or yesterday. Worst case scenario, warring family members come across each other at family reunion and hands thrown or shots fired.

Honestly, the main reason families aren't as close as they used to be is because most of the elders are gone. When the elders were around, they kept the family together; they weren't for family wars. If two family members had beef, an elder would pull both of them aside and tell them to squash their battle or agree to disagree. There's very few families where the elders are living. When the elders die, there goes the wisdom/knowledge & traditions. How many families have family reunions? How many family reunions are still taking place today? Very few, if any.

Today's Thought: Depending On God

Tell me where in the Bible does it say God helps those who help themselves? I'll wait. If we're helping ourselves, what do we need God for? We don't.

Thought For Today: Fixing What's Not Broken

In doing so, you mess things up worse than before. I'm learning daily to leave stuff alone, especially if things are running smoothly. The above stat definitely applies to me.

Christianity & Racial Division

You'd think of all places, church would be the one place where you don't have racial division, but with so many black and white churches, that's not the case. Whites won't go to a black churches, black Christians won't go to a white church. Then you have other ethnicities who have their own churches, and it's all madness to me. I thought we were all believers. I get it, there's denominational differences between black and white churches, so that could explain why whites and blacks prefer to worship among their own. I hate to break it to folks, but there will be NO racial division in Heaven. If believers of different races can't get along down here, they can forget about making Heaven.
