A select few are meant to ride with you to the end, the majority of folks going with you will fall off along the way, mostly because they feel entitled to the benefits and don't want to help you put in work.

Too many ministers are concerned about strangers instead of their own family. The Bible says that ministry starts at home. What about your unsaved family members? We all have them. A minister can't neglect their unsaved family members while focusing on unsaved outsiders.
